Education & Literacy
Our goal: To improve literacy and strengthen educational achievement for children and adults by preparing them for success in the 21st Century.
The Verizon Foundation has a long history of supporting quality educational resources and literacy programs. We focus on preparing children to be successful; enabling teachers, parents and caregivers to help children learn; and educating adults so they are prepared to achieve their goals and contribute to their communities.
Today, however, literacy and learning take on new meaning as broadband and the Internet offer us the ability to access unlimited amounts of information. We need higher levels of literacy, as well as complex critical thinking and problem solving skills and advanced achievement in science, math and engineering.
In response to these requirements, Verizon Foundation supports technology-based approaches to literacy and education. With Verizon Thinkfinity.org, our signature k-12 web site, and our partnerships with national and community-based nonprofits, we support the use of technology and the talents of top education and literacy experts and their organizations.
We understand that education and literacy does not begin or end in the classroom. We're investing in programs and vehicles to reach every type of learner across the lifespan. Take a look at Thinkfinity.org, the Thinkfinity Literacy Network and some of the other strategic programs we support.
We believe in giving people endless opportunities for learning — the true ticket to success.
