Volunteering is our Passion
Verizon employees are the heart of our philanthropic endeavors. In 2007, our employees volunteered more than 485,000 hours supporting thousands of causes in neighborhoods throughout the country.
The Verizon Foundation values the talents and generosity of our employees. Whether supporting one of our key initiatives — education and literacy or safety and health — or selecting a different cause that they care deeply about — we applaud the efforts of our employees and are here to assist them and celebrate the work they do to enhance our communities.
Why do we invest in volunteerism?
The Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP) gives us the opportunity to support our employees and the causes that are most important to them. In addition, our employees have a wide range of skills that are sorely needed by nonprofits. By coupling employee volunteerism with VIP grants we are able to make employee contributions go further, and put additional resources in the hands of nonprofits throughout the country. We believe that every employee can make a difference and with a workforce of nearly 250,000 we believe we can work miracles!
